PATTAYA, Thailand — An intoxicated Indian tourist was left unconscious and vomiting in the street after a brief brawl outside a seafood restaurant Near Walking Street in Pattaya early Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers from Muang Pattaya Police Station and the Pattaya Tourist Police responded at about 4:20 a.m. on September 1st to reports of an assault in front of a seafood restaurant near Walking Street. Rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya were also dispatched.
At the scene, a crowd of Thai and foreign tourists had gathered around Raval, 48, an Indian national who was lying unconscious in the roadway. He appeared heavily intoxicated and had vomited. Fellow Indian tourists were trying to revive him nearby. Rescue workers provided first aid before taking him to hospital.
A nearby fried-insect vendor, Pannaporn Ob-aun, 58, said she saw the man staggering drunkenly and appearing to pick fights with people in the area. He then walked toward a valet parking point used by restaurant customers. A commotion followed, after which he collapsed and did not get up.
Parking attendant Pornchai, 36, said he was watching customers’ vehicles when the heavily drunk tourist approached and began pulling at a parked car. Pornchai said he stepped in to stop him from damaging the vehicle and was punched once in the face. He punched the man back once. A motorcycle taxi driver then pushed the Indian man, who fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
Police detained those involved for questioning at Muang Pattaya Police Station and said they would review CCTV footage to establish a full account of the incident.
