CHON BURI: A 15-year-old boy caused alarm at a snack shop in Sriracha today after pulling out an object that looked like a firearm and showing it to friends, prompting the owner to call police. Officers later determined it was a plastic toy gun.
At about 5 p.m. on Friday, August 28th, 2026, a patrol unit from Bowin Police Station received a report from the shop owner, identified only as Mr. Songtham, whose store is located in Thep Prathan Phon Village, Moo 3.
The owner said a group of teenagers entered the shop to buy snacks. One of them then took out an item resembling a handgun and displayed it to his friends. Fearing a possible threat, the owner immediately contacted police.
Shop CCTV captured the incident, but the footage was not clear enough to confirm whether the object was a real firearm or a replica. The owner therefore asked officers to check and prevent any potential danger.
Police went to the boy’s home and identified him only as Phuwanet, 15. They examined the item he had shown and found it was a plastic toy gun, not a real weapon.
Officers issued a verbal warning and instructed the teenager not to carry or display toy guns or objects that resemble firearms in public. They noted that others could easily mistake such items for real weapons, causing fear or leading to an unexpected incident.
No charges were filed because the object was confirmed to be a toy. Police reminded the boy not to repeat the behavior, especially while authorities are tightening checks on firearms and look-alike items to prevent violence and protect public safety in the area.
