TAKHIAN TIA, August 28th, 2026:
Mayor Mitchai Prakobtham, known as “Mayor Mao,” led officials from Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality in a Buddhist chanting and meditation ceremony dedicated as royal merit to Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and as merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha, the Princess Rajasarini Siribajra.
The event was the seventh monthly ceremony of 2026 organized in Chonburi Province. It was held on Friday, August 28th, at 3:30 p.m. at the meditation hall of Wat Thepbut in the Huai Yai Subdistrict.
Mr. Phongthasit Pichanant, Deputy Governor of Chonburi, presided. He was joined by senior monks of the province, ecclesiastical administrators, government officials, civil servants, and Buddhists from across the area.
Mayor Prakobtham and staff from the municipality’s Office of the Municipal Clerk attended to express loyalty and to join in offering the merit. The ceremony began with a salute before royal portraits, followed by the lighting of traditional offerings. Monks then chanted Buddhist scriptures and led participants in meditation dedicated to their Royal Majesties the Queen Mother and the Princess.
Municipal officials said the municipality’s participation shows the local government’s role in supporting important Buddhist observances, preserving tradition, and paying tribute to the royal family.
