PATTAYA, Thailand: A 30-year-old oil refinery employee died early Thursday after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya.
Police Lt. Janda Dermpan, deputy investigation inspector at Banglamung Police Station, received the report at 4:20 a.m. on Aug. 27th. The accident occurred in front of the Do Home store’s Rong Po branch in the Banglamung subdistrict.
Rescue volunteers from Sawang Boribun Thammasathan Pattaya and a medical team from Pattaya Patthamakhun Hospital rushed to the scene.
Officers found Mr. Phumai Thipwat, an employee of the Bangchak Laem Chabang oil refinery, lying unconscious in the road median with no pulse. Rescuers and doctors performed CPR but could not revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was covered with a white cloth pending further investigation.
About 20 meters away, a black Honda Lead motorcycle bearing Chonburi license plates lay overturned on the roadside. The front of the bike showed impact damage.
Witnesses said they heard a loud crash while resting in a nearby vehicle and rushed out. Passersby who saw the motorcycle skid and fall searched for nearly 15 minutes before locating Phumai in the median and calling for help.
The victim’s girlfriend arrived later. Upon learning he had died, she collapsed to her knees and wept, as others at the scene looked on in shock.
Police photographed the scene and planned to review nearby CCTV footage to reconstruct the sequence of events, determine the cause of the crash, and complete the investigation.
