Sattahip police have summoned and fined five young women who were filmed dancing, performing somersaults and exercising in the middle of Sukhumvit Road, warning the public not to use roadways for entertainment.
A clip circulated on TikTok showed a group of women dancing and doing somersaults while exercising on Sukhumvit Road in the Tao Than area of Sattahip Subdistrict. The activity blocked traffic and risked causing accidents for other road users.
Police Colonel Komsan Khamtunkaew, superintendent of Sattahip Police Station, ordered Police Lieutenant Colonel Phatthanan Somnuan, the station’s traffic inspector, and traffic officers to track down those involved.
Officers later identified five women, all employees of a nearby karaoke shop. They were brought in for legal action, warned not to repeat the behavior, and charged as pedestrians who entered the roadway in a manner that obstructed traffic without reasonable cause. They were then fined under the law.
The five women told police they had only gone out to film a video for social media content. Because it was late at night and traffic was light, they believed it would not cause problems. They said they did not expect the clip to become an issue that led officers to locate them. They apologized to the public and promised not to do it again.
Sattahip Police Station’s traffic unit reminded the public that dancing or using a roadway for entertainment without reasonable cause can violate the law, increase the risk of accidents, and endanger both those involved and other road users.
Authorities urged people to respect traffic rules, not use the road surface for personal activities or content filming, and put the safety of all road users first to prevent unexpected incidents.
