PATTAYA: The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) and Pattaya City on Wednesday announced the winners of the 4th Pattaya Short Film Contest, which received more than 120 Thai and international entries under the theme “Sustainability.”
The awards ceremony was held at SF Cinema at Central Pattaya. DASTA Deputy Director Watcharee Churaksa led the event, while Pattaya Deputy Mayor Damrongkiat Pinijkarn delivered welcoming remarks.
Officials from Pattaya City and DASTA also took part in a panel discussion on how the contest can help position Pattaya as a UNESCO Creative City of Film. Speakers said cinema is being used as a tool for urban development and to expand the city’s creative economy.
The contest was open to anyone regardless of gender, age, education or nationality. Organizers added a foreign-language category this year to give the event a more international profile. More than 90 Thai-language films and more than 30 foreign-language films were submitted.
Watcharee said the stronger response this year showed growing interest from creators in Thailand and abroad. DASTA wants to use film to raise public awareness, develop local talent and drive Pattaya’s creative economy. After four years of preparation, the city plans to seek membership in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the film category in 2027.
Thai-language winners
– First prize (50,000 baht, plaque and certificate): Same Day, Same Shore by Bandon Film
– First runner-up (30,000 baht, plaque and certificate): Sustainable Love by WatDidWedoo
– Second runner-up (20,000 baht, plaque and certificate): Mother Tongue by Bozo Gazano
Foreign-language winners
– First prize (50,000 baht, plaque and certificate): The Last Spin by Nipan Studio
– First runner-up (30,000 baht, plaque and certificate): The Borrowed Voice by Marnoy68
– Second runner-up (20,000 baht, plaque and certificate): The Daily Angler by Ban Lao Film Production
Fourteen honorable mentions of 10,000 baht each, plus certificates, were also awarded. In all, 20 prizes were presented, with a combined purse of 340,000 baht.
