PATTAYA, Thailand – A video clip shared by local residents captures a chaotic street brawl in Soi Bongkot near a convenience and book store in which a group of men believed to be Bolt ride-hailing drivers repeatedly assaulted a teenage male after he shouted insults at them.
According to the footage and accounts from witnesses, approximately seven to eight men surrounded the youth, knocked him to the ground, and continued punching and kicking him in the middle of the alley until an orange vest motorcycle taxi driver, known locally as “wins”, stepped in to break up the fight. The attackers then dispersed.
Around 1:00 a.m. on August 23rd, 2026, a Pattaya News team visited the scene and spoke with Mr. Somphot Meelap, 45, a motorcycle taxi (win) driver who witnessed the incident and intervened. He explained that the young man had been yelling abusive language and behaving inappropriately toward Bolt drivers passing through the area. The situation quickly escalated, leading several drivers to join in the assault shown in the video.
“I saw what was happening and immediately went in to stop them,” Mr. Somphot said. Both sides then left the scene. No one contacted the police at the time of the incident.
The exact trigger for the confrontation remains unclear. Some witnesses suggested the teenager may have been under the influence of alcohol or another substance, or appeared to be behaving abnormally, though these observations have not been confirmed. As of the latest reports, there is no information indicating that either party has filed a formal complaint with police.
