BANGLAMUNG, Chonburi – Police from BangLamung Police Station arrested a 33-year-old man known as “Em Kiw Yai” on Sunday, August 23rd, after he allegedly stole items from a local market near Pattaya and later attempted to stab officers while resisting capture.
Pol. Col. Sarawut Nuchanat, superintendent of Banglamung Police Station, ordered investigation and patrol teams to track the suspect after residents shared closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage on a community Facebook page. The video showed a man committing theft, taking power strips, inside a market near Pattaya.
Officers later learned the suspect was hiding in an abandoned house in Moo 1. There they arrested Mr. Inthanon, alias “Em Kiw Yai,” a 33-year-old resident of Banglamung.
During the arrest, the suspect pulled a stainless-steel knife approximately 24 centimetres long and tried to stab police officers in an attempt to escape. Officers quickly subdued him and took him into custody. The knife was found beside him.
Police seized several items as evidence: the knife, a black round-neck T-shirt, a pair of short jeans, flip-flops, and four plastic power strip boxes. Some of the clothing matched what the suspect was seen wearing on the day of the theft. Four stolen power strips were recovered from the roadside in Soi Banglamung 21/1 after the suspect led officers to the location.
Authorities have charged him with nighttime theft or receiving stolen property, as well as attempting to assault officials performing their duties. He has been transferred, along with the seized evidence, to investigators at Banglamung Police Station for further legal proceedings.
