Krabi –
A longtail tourist boat carrying 12 people, including ten Indian tourists, capsized and partially sank near Laem Hang Nak in Krabi on Saturday morning, prompting a dramatic rescue at sea ultimately leading to all involved to be safely rescued but seven with mostly minor injuries.
On Saturday (August 15th) at approximately 11:15 a.m., the Third Naval Area Command’s Maritime Operations Center received an emergency report that the tour boat had overturned while transporting foreign tourists from Ao Nang to Koh Hong. On board were 10 international visitors, a tour guide, and the boat captain.
Nearby speedboats rushed to the scene and successfully rescued all passengers and crew. Seven individuals sustained injuries, six with minor wounds and one with a fractured arm. All were transported to Klong Muang Beach for medical assessment and treatment.
Authorities confirmed the longtail boat had departed Ao Nang earlier in the day bound for Koh Hong before capsizing mid-journey. The vessel was found partially submerged, with its hull overturned in the water.
Officials are now investigating the cause of the accident, including the boat’s condition and circumstances leading up to the incident.
