Huai Yai-
On August 6th, 2026, the family of Diana and Roman, two Russian siblings killed in a shocking murder case in the Huai Yai Subdistrict, held a final memorial ceremony at the site where their bodies were discovered. Led by their mother, Mrs. Sharina Nasimova, the family gathered to mourn, offer merit to the deceased, and remember the three members of a Thai family who also died at the hands of the same criminals.
The religious rites were led by Phra Kru Kasemkittisophon (Phra Ajarn Joy), ecclesiastical head of Phlu Ta Luang Subdistrict and abbot of Wat Samakkhi Banphot in Sattahip District, together with Phra Kru Palat Theerayut Chotiko (Luang Phi X), abbot of Wat Khao Boonmee Dararam.
Among those attending were Chonburi Governor Narit Niramaiwong, Chonburi Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongphan Wongmanithet, Banglamung District Chief Anusak Phiriyamon, Huai Yai Police Station Superintendent Pol. Col. Warawut Nittayawan, other senior officials, and large numbers of Thai and foreign residents who came to pay respects and support the bereaved family.
The atmosphere was one of deep sorrow. Relatives and mourners placed white flowers, including carnations, lilies and roses, at the site to honour the victims before standing in silence and offering final farewells. White flowers symbolise purity, respect and a peaceful parting.
The family also left a cup of coffee, Diana’s favourite drink, at the location as a personal tribute to happier memories. The gesture moved many present. Mrs. Nasimova wept throughout the ceremony as relatives, friends and well-wishers offered comfort.
She expressed profound gratitude to the Thai people, government agencies, police officers and volunteers who had supported the family through their loss. “We are deeply touched by the kindness of Thai people,” she said, adding that the support had given them strength to endure this difficult time.
The ceremony marked the final farewell to the spirits of the deceased amid widespread mourning by family, friends and the public following the case. Attendees expressed hope that the justice process would bring the perpetrators to account and deliver justice for all the victims and their families.
Diana and Roman’s family practises Buddhism. Their mother raised the two children alone and has lived in Thailand for many years.
