Pattaya Launches Training to Become a “City of Film” and Develop Good Hosts

PATTAYA, August 6, 2026

Pattaya City Mayor Poramese Ngamphichet led the opening of a training course titled “Think Together, Create Together, Be Good Hosts Towards Becoming a Film City” at the Piman Meeting Room of the Grand Palazzo Hotel Pattaya. Senior administrators and members of the Pattaya City Council attended the event.

The training forms part of the 2026 project to raise public awareness, encourage participation, and promote good-host practices. According to Mrs. Panrada Attohi, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Pattaya City and Acting Director of the Social Welfare Office, approximately 300 participants took part. They included local residents, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and officials connected to the film industry.

The program hopes to build understanding of Pattaya’s vision to become a City of Film. It promotes awareness of suitable filming locations and businesses with the capacity to support film production, with the goal of creating a central database to attract both Thai and international film crews. Organizers expect this to generate long-term income and stimulate the local community economy.

The course also seeks to strengthen participants’ mindset and skills as good hosts for tourists and film production teams, encourage public involvement in the creative economy, and build cooperation networks among government agencies, residents, and the private sector. These efforts are intended to drive Pattaya toward sustainable development as a creative film city.

Mr. Sattawat Intrayud and a team from Kantana Group Public Company Limited provided specialized knowledge to help elevate related professions to industry standards. Staff from the Office of Strategy and Budget also offered guidance on mapping locations, shops, and businesses on Google Maps to support the central database.
