Pattaya, Thailand – July 23, 2026 – Heavy downpours that lasted more than an hour triggered widespread flooding across Pattaya, bringing traffic to a standstill on major routes early this morning.
According to local reports, intense rainfall began around 5:00 a.m., rapidly inundating several low-lying areas of the city. The situation was particularly severe along the Railway Side Road (Thanon Leab Thang Rot Fai) between Soi Khao Talo and Soi Khao Noi, where floodwaters rose to dangerous levels.

Motorcycles and cars were unable to pass through the submerged section. Several private vehicles were left stranded in the middle of the road after their engines stalled while attempting to drive through the floodwater.
Authorities quickly responded by placing metal barriers to close off the affected stretch of road. Officials remained on site to direct traffic, warn motorists against attempting to cross the flooded area, and urge drivers to use alternative routes until conditions improve.

Many neighborhoods in Pattaya are known chronic flood-risk zones due to their low-lying topography and bowl-shaped geography. Heavy rain routinely causes standing water in these spots, though city drainage teams are usually able to clear the water relatively quickly and restore normal traffic flow.
Residents have been advised to exercise caution, monitor weather updates, and avoid flood-prone roads during the current rainy season. No injuries were immediately reported in connection with the morning’s flooding.
