Na Jomtien, Thailand– A concerned local resident who has asked to be anonymous is calling on relevant authorities to inspect and address the increasing presence of beach vendors along Na Jomtien beach, particularly in the area past the Jomtien/Pattaya border to Sattahip.
The resident described a gradual “creep” that began with a few individuals renting out beach chairs, later expanding to kite sales, and now includes mobile food carts parked on the beach side offering food and other items.
“I have gone to the local authorities in Na Jomtien recently but have seen no action yet,” the resident said. “I would like to avoid what happened a few years back when hundreds of vendors turned the area into an illegal market and they had to call out higher authorities to step in and clear the beach.”
Vendors reportedly begin setting up around 5 p.m., with activity intensifying after dark, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. The resident noted that, thankfully, there have been no fireworks yet like in previous years. The resident notes that the rules in this area are even stricter than Jomtien and Pattaya beaches and is merely asking for authorities to inspect and enforce them if they are indeed being violated, not criticizing anyone in particular.
The appeal comes one day after enforcement action was taken against similar unauthorized vendors on nearby Pattaya Beach, raising hopes that prompt intervention could prevent further issues in Na Jomtien.
