Newly appointed secretary to Pattaya Mayor Poramese “Beer” Ngampichet, Bancha Kullawanich, has pledged to shift from a traditional desk-bound role to a hands-on approach focused on field visits, early problem detection, and direct engagement with residents.
Speaking with The Pattaya News after assuming the position, Bancha expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by Mayor Beer. “I feel honoured and would like to thank Mayor Poramese Ngampichet for giving me this important responsibility,” he said. “I will carry out my duties with full commitment to help drive Pattaya’s development forward and better meet the needs of our citizens.”
Bancha described the core function of the mayor’s secretary as providing comprehensive support across all areas of administration. This includes preparing accurate and actionable information, coordinating between the executive team, civil servants, and the public to ensure smooth and efficient teamwork.
He explained that all data presented to the mayor must be precise, verifiable, and practical. “Mayor Beer places great importance on facts,” Bancha noted. “If information is unclear or cannot be implemented, it will not be communicated to the public under any circumstances.”
In a significant change of working style, Bancha said the secretary’s office will move away from a primarily document-and-coordination focus towards a more proactive stance. The team will regularly go into the field to listen to residents’ concerns, verify situations on the ground, and closely monitor developments so that problems can be addressed before they escalate into crises.
Drawing on more than a decade of business experience and his previous tenure as secretary to the president of the Pattaya City Council, Bancha believes he is well-equipped for the role. “I understand the bureaucratic system, the workings of the city council, and how to coordinate with all sectors,” he said. “I will apply this knowledge to make the executive branch operate more efficiently.”
Among the immediate priorities, Bancha pointed out the issue of homeless people and vagrants in Pattaya, which was one of the most frequently raised concerns during the recent election campaign. Mayor Beer has assigned Deputy Mayor Damrongkiat Pinijkan to lead efforts on this front. At the same time, supporting the local economy and residents’ livelihoods remains a key focus, given Pattaya’s heavy reliance on tourism. Measures to assist businesses and stimulate economic activity will be accelerated.
Bancha pledged to perform his duties with honesty, integrity, and transparency, always placing the interests of Pattaya residents first. “I will serve as an important bridge connecting the administration with the people,” he said, “so that Pattaya’s development can proceed efficiently and deliver maximum benefit to all parties.”
True to his slogan of “doing more than talking,” Bancha encouraged residents to reach out directly.
