Pattaya – A Kuwaiti tourist has reported to police that he was robbed of 20,000 baht in cash and a mobile phone after agreeing to spend the night with a person he believed to be a Thai woman but may have been a transgender woman. The incident occurred on Pattaya Beach, and local police are now urgently reviewing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspect.
The victim, Mr. Nawaf, filed a complaint at Pattaya City Police Station. According to his statement, the robbery took place around 8:30 p.m. on July 18th, 2026, near the entrance to Walking Street.
Mr. Nawaf told investigators he had been drinking at a bar in the Pattaya area before strolling along the beach, where he met the suspect. After conversing, the pair agreed to spend the night together. The suspect then drove the victim on a motorcycle toward northern Pattaya before turning into a quiet, secluded alley.
While the victim, who was intoxicated, dismounted the motorcycle and sat by the roadside, the suspect allegedly snatched 20,000 baht in cash and a Samsung Galaxy smartphone from him. Mr. Nawaf attempted to resist but was overpowered and physically assaulted. The suspect then fled on the motorcycle.
Following the incident, the victim walked to Pattaya City Police Station to file an official complaint and requested that the suspect be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Police investigators have interviewed the victim, inspected the scene, and coordinated with the investigation unit to gather evidence. Officers are actively checking CCTV cameras along the suspected escape route in an effort to identify and arrest the suspect as quickly as possible.
