TAKHIAN TIA, Chonburi – On July 15th, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., Mr. Mitchai Prakobtham, Mayor of Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality, led the opening ceremony of the 2026 fiscal year training and study-visit program to develop the potential of Local Volunteers for the Environment (LVEC).
The event, organized by the municipality’s Public Health and Environment Division at the Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality Learning Center, is to enhance knowledge, build capacity, and strengthen the volunteer network. The goal is to drive effective community-level solid waste management and the sustainable conservation of natural resources and the environment.
Deputy Mayor Mr. Wachira Suea, who serves as project director, delivered the objectives report. He stated that the program aligns with the Ministry of Interior policy encouraging the establishment of local environmental volunteer networks. These networks promote public participation in managing waste and pollutants while building community-level environmental stewardship through improved knowledge, skills, and effective role performance.
Approximately 150 participants attended, including municipal executives, Takhian Tia Subdistrict Council members, local environmental volunteers, and relevant officials. Experts from the Office of Environment and Pollution Control Region 13 (Chonburi) served as resource persons, sharing knowledge and practical experiences in environmental management.
In his opening address, Mayor Mitchai Prakobtham said that local environmental volunteers are a vital force in raising environmental awareness among residents. They play a key role in driving waste management initiatives, promoting waste separation at source, and conserving natural resources within the community.
“I am confident that all participants will apply the knowledge and experiences gained here in their work and effectively pass them on to the public,” the mayor said. “Together, we will develop Takhian Tia into a clean, livable, and environmentally sustainable subdistrict.”
