CHONBURI, Thailand
A 45-year-old factory worker was trapped inside the wreckage of his Honda City Sedan and suffered serious injuries after he crashed into the rear of a parked 18-wheeler early Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. on July 15th, 2026, on the parallel road to the motorway near Ton Krarok Bridge in Tambon Takhian Tia, not far from Pattaya.
Rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Center, along with medical personnel from Pattaya Pathumkun Hospital, responded to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle collision with a person trapped inside.
Upon arrival, rescuers found the bronze-silver Honda City heavily crushed into the rear of a Hino 18-wheeler belonging to Ava Global Logistics Co., Ltd. The truck had been parked on the roadside while its driver rested.
The force of the impact caused extensive damage to the front of the sedan, with the dashboard and console pinning the driver inside. Rescue personnel used hydraulic cutting tools to pry open the wreckage and free the victim, identified as Mr. Komsup Thandee, a 45-year-old factory employee. He was given initial first aid before being rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses who drove past the scene told authorities they saw the collision had already occurred and immediately called emergency services. They also alerted the truck driver, who was sleeping inside his vehicle at the time.
The 30-year-old truck driver, Mr. Natcha Donmee, said he had parked the truck on the shoulder while waiting to collect cargo from Laem Chabang Port. He was resting inside the cabin when a good Samaritan woke him to report the crash. He immediately assisted until rescuers arrived.
Police documented the scene, collected evidence, and interviewed witnesses and involved parties. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
