Banglamung District Holds Multi-Sector Meeting to Plan Royal Cremation Ceremony Alongside Flood Preparedness

BANGLAMUNG, Chonburi – On July 15th, 2026, Mr. Anusak Piriyamorn, District Chief of Banglamung, chaired a meeting with heads of government agencies and all relevant sectors at the Pong Subdistrict Municipality meeting hall. The gathering focused on monitoring key administrative matters and reinforcing preparedness for upcoming missions.

The meeting outlined preparations for the nationwide Royal Cremation Ceremony for the beloved Queen Mother, scheduled for December 15th, 2026. In Banglamung District, a sandalwood flower-laying ceremony (Phra Mai Jant) will be held at Wat Chai Mongkol Royal Temple. Authorities have called on the public to refrain from all forms of entertainment and celebratory activities on that day and time out of respect. It’s noted however this is a request and not an order.

The District Community Development Office has been assigned to produce the sandalwood flowers for the ceremony. Officials were also instructed to urgently develop detailed plans for traffic management, parking arrangements, and public facilitation to ensure the event proceeds smoothly and with appropriate dignity.

Simultaneously, the district chief expressed readiness to tackle potential flooding, particularly in areas with a history of repeated inundation. Agencies were ordered to prepare machinery, water pumps, and necessary equipment, accelerate the dredging of canals and drainage pipes to improve water flow during heavy rains, and maintain standby teams to assist residents, especially bedridden patients, in the event of flooding reaching homes.

The Chonburi Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office stressed the need for seamless integration and cooperation among all sectors. It urged districts and local administrative organizations to strengthen coordination with public volunteer networks to effectively prevent and respond to floods and landslides throughout the rainy season.
