Pattaya, Thailand – On July 9th, 2026, authorities in Banglamung District conducted a targeted anti-drug raid in a known gathering spot near Pattaya Beach, resulting in the arrest of two suspects for drug possession and the referral of 24 drug users for rehabilitation.
The operation was carried out under the Thai government’s policy to prevent and suppress drug abuse. It was directed by Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong and Bang Lamung District Chief Anusak Piriyomron. District Security Officer Kamphrai Lao Saen led a joint team comprising members of the Village Volunteer Defense Corps (Or Sor) and district administrative officers from the District’s Special Rapid Response Unit.
Acting on public complaints, officials received reports that an area beside an abandoned building in Soi 13/4, Pattaya Beach Road, had become a hotspot for drug users and dealers. Makeshift zinc-roofed shelters in the location were reportedly used for loitering and the illegal sale of narcotics. Officers conducted surveillance to gather evidence before launching a coordinated raid.
Upon entering the site, authorities found more than 20 individuals gathered in the area. The team quickly secured the scene, separated males and females, and conducted thorough personal and premises searches. They discovered numerous drug paraphernalia items, including equipment used for consuming and packaging drugs for distribution.
Two women were arrested for possession of Category 1 narcotics (crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice”):
– Ms. Kanokporn Siriwongsa-rot, seized with 8.40 grams of ice
– Ms. Phraewwanit Khit Khang Bon, seized with 8.32 grams of ice
In addition, 24 individuals tested positive for drug use, 11 men and 13 women. They were detained and processed for screening before being sent into the government’s rehabilitation and treatment program.
The two suspects and all seized evidence were handed over to investigating officers for further legal proceedings.
Banglamung District officials stated that such operations will continue with determination and consistency. They also urged residents to provide information and cooperate in eliminating the drug problem to create a safer and more sustainable community.
