Chonburi, Thailand – Khao Kheow Open Zoo is inviting visitors to join a special three-day celebration for the second birthday of its beloved star, pygmy hippopotamus Moo Deng, under the theme “Moo Deng HAPPY Deng DAY”.
The festivities will take place from 10 to 12 July 2026 at the zoo’s hippopotamus exhibit in Chonburi province. The event will also mark the official launch of “Hippo Village”, a new development project designed to enhance the animals’ living environment and provide visitors with a modern, educational experience.
Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, said the celebration is a major occasion to honor the global superstar pygmy hippo while introducing the ambitious new facility.
On 10 July, Moo Deng’s actual birthday, visitors will have the chance to sing “Happy Birthday,” present a special birthday cake to the hippo, and join an exclusive Fan Meeting with “Captain Wit” and the popular zookeeper team, including P’Benz, P’Nick, P’Tod, and the Zoo Keeper Creators. The team will interact closely with fans, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and creating memorable moments.
Throughout the three days, the zoo will host a variety of family-friendly activities, including a cute animal mascot parade, game stalls with prizes, an exhibition booth showcasing the Hippo Village project, a card-writing station for fans to send birthday wishes to Moo Deng, and stalls selling exclusive Moo Deng merchandise as well as premium OTOP local products from Chonburi.
Free Admission for Children and Seniors
As a special gift to the public, Khao Kheow Open Zoo is offering free entry from 10 to 12 July 2026 for:
– Children 12 years old and under, or no taller than 135 cm
– Seniors aged 60 and above
The offer applies to admission only; vehicle entry fees will still apply.
