The Rojana Industrial Estate in Laem Chabang convened the first meeting of its Environmental Impact Monitoring Committee for 2026 (1/2569) on Monday, June 15, to oversee compliance with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) measures for the project’s first expansion phase.
The meeting took place at the Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality meeting hall in Banglamung District. It brought together company representatives and local business owners to establish monitoring protocols and ensure environmental safeguards are strictly followed.
Mr. Weerawat Wannarat, Project Manager of the Rojana Laem Chabang Industrial Estate, led the presentation alongside Ms. Sasithorn Chaiyasin, Environmental Officer from the head office, and Mr. Narin Nusitphap, on-site project officer. They provided detailed updates on the project’s operations and environmental management.
The event was attended by Mr. Swet Charoenklang, Secretary to the Mayor of Ta Kian Tia Subdistrict Municipality, representing Mayor Mitchai Prakobtham; Ms. Malinee Singhasuwit, Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization Council member; Mr. Pongsak Rak-khamsuk, Deputy Mayor of Bang Lamung Subdistrict Municipality; and Mr. Monthian Boonkrajang, Village Head of Ta Kian Tia. Also present were members of the subdistrict council, representatives from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), government agencies, community leaders, and local residents.
The primary objective of the committee is to serve as a key oversight mechanism for tracking and verifying the project’s environmental performance in line with the approved EIA report. Discussions focused on defining the committee’s roles and responsibilities, appointing members, setting monitoring guidelines, reviewing follow-up matters, and addressing other related issues.
Key monitoring areas include air quality, noise levels, water quality, wastewater management, industrial waste and hazardous materials handling, as well as preventive and mitigation measures to protect surrounding communities and natural resources.
The gathering provided an important platform for local authorities, community representatives, and business owners to receive progress updates, exchange views, and offer recommendations on environmental matters. Organizers explained that the committee’s work promotes transparency, public participation, and confidence that the Laem Chabang Rojana Industrial Estate (Phase 1 Expansion) will operate responsibly while balancing industrial development with the well-being of residents and long-term environmental sustainability.
