Pattaya, Thailand – A 23-year-old man was seriously injured and his truck sustained damage after his Pattaya area neighbor allegedly ambushed him and his vehicle with a hammer in a dispute over the noise from his modified pickup truck, police said. The victim was attacked in front of his wife and young child.
The incident occurred at 8:36 p.m. on June 11th, 2026, in front of a residence on Soi Khao Makok 2/6, Moo 4.
Police Sub-Lieutenant Worawut Kitisriworaphan of the Huay Yai Police Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Mr. Noppharat Thapphrakong, also known as Oat, lying injured outside his home. He had been struck multiple times with a metal hammer on the head, stomach, and both legs, resulting in swollen lacerations. He was in visible pain, groaning loudly. Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation provided first aid before rushing him to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.
At the scene, investigators discovered a red four-door pickup truck, a Chevrolet, pushed against a concrete wall. A motorcycle was crushed between the truck and the wall, severely damaged. The truck’s windshield and driver’s side window showed clear signs of repeated hammer blows, with the glass shattered.
The victim’s wife, Ms. Naphitchaya Thitapan, 24, told police that she, her husband, and their 3-year-old daughter had just returned from dinner. As their pickup truck entered the soi, a Thai man in his 30s, later identified as their neighbor, suddenly jumped in front of the vehicle holding a hammer and began smashing the windshield. Terrified, she shielded her daughter while the truck collided with the motorcycle and wall. She then grabbed her child and fled into the house, leaving her husband outside where he was beaten.
The victim’s brother-in-law, Mr. Theerati Nuchthan, 29, provided further details. He said the suspect, known as Benz, aged 30, lives directly across the narrow street, less than 10 meters away. The conflict began earlier when Benz complained about the loud engine noise of the victim’s modified truck, which had been left idling. A brief argument ensued. When the family returned home after dinner, Benz was waiting and launched the violent attack. Theerati said he witnessed Benz yelling with a hammer before fleeing on a motorcycle with his girlfriend. The victim also claimed that Benz had brandished a gun to threaten him during the incident.
CCTV footage from the residence captured the dramatic sequence. At 8:31 p.m., the pickup truck is heard entering the soi. A loud impact sound follows, then the sound of the engine revving loudly. Over the next several seconds, banging noises consistent with hammer strikes are audible. At 8:31:36 p.m., the truck crashes into the motorcycle and wall. Shortly afterward, the wife is seen running into the house with her daughter. The injured man later staggers inside, collapses, and is heard crying out in pain. Family members can be seen arguing heatedly as they assist him. Rescue services arrived around 9:02 p.m.
As of the latest reports, Benz remains at large. Huay Yai police have advised the victim’s family to file an official complaint and have deployed investigators to locate the suspect for arrest on charges including assault with a deadly weapon and property damage.
The case has caused alarm among residents in the quiet residential soi, many of whom gathered at the scene after hearing the commotion.
This isn’t the first time a local resident has been beaten over loud noise from a vehicle as this incident from just a few days ago shows in Pattaya.
