Two Pattaya Bar Hosts Apologise for Viral Road Rage Incident, Claim Foreign Driver Cursed Them First

Pattaya – The two young men involved in the widely circulated video of aggressive road rage against a foreign tourist in Pattaya seen on our X here, have come forward to explain their actions, admitting they acted in the heat of the moment while apologising for damaging the city’s image.

Mr. Techit Saenkrung, 25, and Mr. Amonnat Phanomrueangsak, 28, spoke to The Pattaya News reporters at 2:06 PM yesterday. Both are local residents believed to work as bar hosts.

According to the pair, the incident began shortly after they left a condominium in South Pattaya on a motorcycle. They had turned left and travelled less than 100 metres when a white car allegedly followed closely behind, honking its horn. The driver then lowered the window and shouted at them in a foreign language, which they interpreted as verbal abuse. This led to a heated argument.

The two men claimed they intended to call the police for mediation, but when the foreign driver heard the word “police,” he drove away. They decided to follow the car to resolve the matter and ensure it did not escalate further. They denied cutting in front of the driver’s vehicle as some online comments suggested.

Mr. Techit admitted that in his anger he knocked on the car window and attempted to open the door (which was locked). He also said the foreign driver swerved and drove erratically at times, raising concerns about a possible accident. The pursuit continued until the Pattaya North–Na Klua roundabout, where the driver reportedly told them to go to the police station. Both men followed the car there.

Upon arriving at the police station, the foreign driver entered first to speak with officers. The two men waited for a period but eventually left, saying they were tired and did not realise the incident would become such a major issue.

In their statement, both acknowledged that the behaviour captured in the 1-minute-28-second video was the result of a “momentary lapse of emotion.” Mr. Techit said he was slightly intoxicated at the time and still upset from what he perceived as being cursed at.

“I apologise to society and the people of Pattaya,” Mr. Techit told reporters. “Our actions have made the city look bad.”

The pair stated they will return to the police station soon to provide a full explanation of the events.

The video, which shows the men on a red motorcycle with a loud exhaust giving middle fingers, shouting obscenities, and banging on the foreign driver’s car near the Pattaya Tunnel, sparked widespread criticism online after it was posted on Facebook and X yesterday.

No official police statement has been released yet regarding any charges or further action.
