CHONBURI
The Chief of the Ban Bueng Police Station in Chonburi has ordered the arrest of eight Chinese nationals for working without proper permits in the area, with authorities now preparing to expand the investigation to those allegedly providing them shelter and protection.
Pol. Col. Krisana Masuk, Chief of Ban Bueng Police Station, directed a joint operation involving officers from the station and the Tourist Police Bureau’s Investigation Division. The raid was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Somdet Ketwuttha, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation), along with other station officers and Pol. Lt. Col. Kritphon Saengsura from the Tourist Police.
The operation resulted in the arrest of eight Chinese men:
1. Mr. Jiahong Wang
2. Mr. Dongdong Ding
3. Mr. Xiaoqi Li
4. Mr. Dong Wang
5. Mr. Jiadong Li
6. Mr. Jianming Wang
7. Mr. Sizhuang Yang
8. Mr. Yanhua Ding
All eight were taken into custody and charged under Thai immigration and labour laws. Mr. Jiahong Wang (Suspect 1) faces charges of “being a foreigner working without a work permit.” Suspects 2 through 8 face additional charges of “being a foreigner permitted temporary stay in the Kingdom but engaging in employment or hired work without permission,” along with the same work permit violation.
The suspects have been handed over to investigators at Ban Bueng Police Station for legal proceedings.
Authorities have indicated they will expand the investigation to identify and arrest individuals providing accommodation and protection to the illegal foreign workers.
Local sources and tip-offs received by the special task force revealed that groups of unlicensed Chinese workers have been operating in the industrial estate zones straddling Ban Bueng and Nong Yai districts. Police say they will pursue all leads to dismantle the support network.
