Pattaya, Thailand – Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngampichet, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor, the Secretary to the President of the Pattaya City Council, and representatives from key business and tourism sectors, met recently to express congratulations and discuss strategies for driving forward national tourism policies.
Participants included members from the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association, the Chonburi Tourism Federation, and the Thai Hotels Association Eastern Chapter. The meeting focused on group efforts to strengthen the tourism industry in the region.

Discussions focused on integrating cultural dimensions to add value to tourism experiences, while elevating service quality and boosting income for local operators. Proposals included the establishment of a dedicated tourism promotion fund, encouraging travelers to purchase life and accident insurance to minimize financial burdens in case of unforeseen incidents, and developing environmentally friendly facilities with reasonable service fees that align with tourist satisfaction.
Authorities also addressed the need to manage unregulated accommodations. Hotel operators in the area are urged to obtain proper licenses and registrations, adhere to safety standards for visitors, and ensure efficient tax collection from businesses.

The meeting further examined challenges affecting the eastern region’s tourism sector, including local unrest and rising operational costs such as increasing fuel prices, which impact both domestic and international travel. To counter these issues, business leaders proposed measures to facilitate smoother travel while implementing appropriate screening processes to maintain high standards befitting Pattaya’s status as an international tourism destination.
