CHONBURI, Thailand – An 18-year-old vocational college student was brutally attacked by his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend and another assailant after being lured to a meeting, suffering a stab wound that narrowly missed his lung and severe trauma to his left eye that has left him at risk of permanent blindness.
The incident occurred around 6:06 PM on April 15th, 2026, in Soi Khao Talo 10. The victim, Mr. Turbo (surname withheld), a third-year welding student at a local vocational college, was taken to hospital in serious condition.
On April 25th, Mr. Turbo’s mother, Ms. Ariya (surname withheld), aged 38, accompanied her son to speak with local media and appeal for justice. They had already filed an official complaint at Nong Prue Police Station with investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Alisa Thirasin.
According to Mr. Turbo’s account, his ex-girlfriend, with whom he had broken up more than five months earlier, contacted him via chat. Although they had remained on somewhat friendly terms, he expressed hesitation due to her new relationship. On the day of the attack, she invited him for a meal and arranged to meet at the location.
When he arrived, he was confronted by a group of young men, including the ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend. One attacker stabbed him in the back with a sharp iron scraper, the blade penetrating close to his lung. Another punched him directly in the left eye socket with such force that he briefly lost consciousness. Bleeding heavily and partially blinded, Mr. Turbo managed to flee on his motorcycle and seek help from friends, who rushed him to hospital.
Doctors performed emergency treatment to drain blood from his chest. His left eye required surgery to replace the damaged lens with an artificial one, but it remains uncertain whether he will regain full vision. The eye injury is his greatest concern, as it could affect his future career and life prospects.
Ms. Ariya told reporters she is deeply worried about two issues: her son’s eyesight and the lack of arrests in the case. She fears the attackers may return to harm him again. She believes the assault was driven by jealousy from the new boyfriend.“ After the incident, his ex-girlfriend has not contacted him at all,” she said.
The mother appealed directly to Nong Prue Police to expedite the investigation, gather evidence, and apprehend the suspects. She also urged the suspects, if they see the news, to surrender to authorities and explain why they attacked her son so violently. Addressing the attackers’ parents, she said the incident has shattered her heart as a mother.“
Every parent loves their child. If my son loses sight in one eye, his future is ruined. He had so much potential ahead of him,” she added.
Police from Nong Prue Station, under Chonburi Provincial Police and Region 2, are investigating the case. No arrests have been reported as of April 25th.
