Pattaya police have summoned four individuals for questioning following a violent incident in which a group of men, believed to be motorcycle taxi drivers, assaulted a foreign tourist. The confrontation, captured on video and widely shared on social media, occurred around 1:30 a.m. on April 13th, 2026, in front of a bar in Soi 6.
According to the latest update from Pol. Lt. Col. Arus Sabanon, Deputy Investigation Chief at Pattaya City Police Station, investigators along with traffic police were dispatched to locate those involved. Four people have been brought in for questioning: two motorcycle taxi drivers and two entertainment venue staff members from the area.
Initial police investigations revealed that the incident began when the unidentified foreign tourist allegedly assaulted a Thai man in front of the establishment. Nearby motorcycle taxi drivers intervened to stop the altercation, but the situation escalated into a heated argument and physical fight.
The tourist reportedly punched one of the motorcycle taxi drivers in the head, prompting a response in which he was kicked and beaten. Both parties eventually dispersed from the scene.
Police have recorded statements and details from those involved as evidence. The two motorcycle taxi drivers were formally warned and placed on probation. Authorities are now actively searching for the injured foreign tourist to obtain further testimony and are gathering all available evidence to pursue legal action against any offenders.
The video, which shows the group attacking the tourist, has sparked significant online criticism, particularly as it occurred during the Songkran festival when large numbers of visitors are in Pattaya.
No formal complaint had been filed by either side at the time of reporting, and police continue their efforts to clarify the full sequence of events.
