Pattaya City Mayor Mr. Poramese Ngamphichet, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Mr. Manoch Nongyai, the Mayor’s secretariat team, the Vice President of Pattaya City Council, Council members from District 3, the Assistant Secretary to the Council President, and the Deputy City Clerk, visited Koh Larn to inspect the progress of the island’s wastewater treatment system.
The delegation was briefed on-site by relevant officials at the wastewater treatment facility.
Mayor Poramese Ngamphichet revealed that the visit was to monitor the latest developments on Koh Larn. He showed the newly completed wastewater treatment project located at Tha Na Ban (Front House Pier area), which has a treatment capacity of approximately 1,600 cubic meters per day.
“The system is now fully operational,” the Mayor said. “What remains is the gradual connection of household and business wastewater pipes to the treatment plant so that used water can be properly processed.”
Pattaya already operates two existing wastewater treatment plants, at Ta Kwan Beach and Samet Beach. The new facility on Koh Larn is the latest addition to the city’s wastewater management infrastructure.
Combined, the island’s wastewater treatment facilities now have a total capacity of around 3,000 cubic meters per day, with the newly completed plant contributing 1,600 cubic meters. Mayor Poramese explained that this capacity is sufficient to address the island’s wastewater issues effectively.
The project is to ensure that all wastewater is properly treated before being discharged into the sea, thereby helping to resolve environmental problems and protect the marine ecosystem around Koh Larn.
The Mayor urged residents and business operators on the island to connect to the sewage system as soon as possible, stressing that this would prevent illegal wastewater discharge directly into the sea.
“Every connection helps keep our sea clean,” he added.
The inspection demonstrates Pattaya City’s continued commitment to environmental protection and sustainable tourism development, particularly in its island destinations.
