Young Woman in Distress After Being Conned In Online Scam Attempts Suicide by Walking into Sea at Koh Loy, Sriracha; Quick Action by Good Samaritan Saves Her Life

A 25-year-old woman suffering from severe stress after losing nearly 100,000 baht to an online scam and facing unemployment spiraled into depression. She attempted to end her life by walking into the sea at Koh Loy in Sriracha, but was rescued in time by a quick-thinking citizen.

The incident occurred around 10:00 PM on April 10th, 2026 (Friday). The Sriracha Radio Center notified the Sawang Prateep Sriracha Rescue Unit in Chonburi Province of a person who had fallen into the sea, nearly drowned, and lost consciousness near the seaside viewpoint behind Koh Loy, Sriracha district. Rescue teams and police from Sriracha Police Station were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival at the viewpoint area, rescuers and local residents were already assisting a young woman who had just been pulled from the water. She was identified as a Thai woman, 25 years old, name withheld per our editorial policy on self harm cases. She was found crying, soaked, sitting with her legs extended, conscious but unresponsive to questions. Her younger sister and relatives stayed close, offering emotional support. Rescuers provided blankets to keep her warm before transporting her to the hospital for further treatment.

The victim’s younger sister told authorities that she and her older sister had been sitting by the sea. The older sister then asked to go into the water. The younger sister refused, citing her sister’s depression, and tried to stop her. However, the woman pulled away, walked into the sea, and began swimming around. She eventually stopped moving and started to sink. The younger sister shouted for help from nearby people and called rescuers. Fortunately, a bystander quickly jumped in and pulled her to safety. The sister did not enter the water herself, fearing both might drown.

According to the sister, the incident likely stemmed from the victim being scammed out of nearly 100,000 baht online. Combined with unemployment, this caused overwhelming stress and led to depression. She did not know further details about the scam.

The good Samaritan who rescued her said he was sitting with three friends when he heard someone shouting for help. He turned and saw the woman floating motionless in the sea, so he immediately swam out to bring her ashore. He was unaware of the underlying reasons at the time.

Rescue teams later transferred the victim to Somdech Phra Boromratchathewi Hospital in Sriracha for medical and psychological care.
