Pattaya, April 9th, 2026– Mr. Wuthisak Reamkijakarn, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, led the opening of the seminar titled “The Silent Threat of Strokes” at 1:50 PM on Thursday. The event took place in Meeting Room D1 at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.

He was joined by executives from Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, representatives from Bangkok Life Assurance Public Company Limited, and Dr. Krittha Phuengcharoen, a specialist physician in cerebrovascular diseases. Also in attendance were Dr. Pitaya Phirom-on, Assistant Secretary to the Mayor of Pattaya, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Pornpana Chokthai, Director of Pattaya City Hospital.

The seminar drew a diverse audience, including local business groups, members of Pattaya’s senior citizen schools, and members of the general public eager to learn more about this critical health issue.
In his opening address, Mr. Wuthisak explained the importance of the event, noting that strokes are no longer a distant concern for Thais. Recent data shows it ranks among the leading causes of death and disability in the country. What makes the disease particularly frightening is its nature as a “silent threat” as it can strike suddenly without clear prior warning signs, dramatically altering the lives of victims and their families forever.

“The key to overcoming stroke lies in ‘knowing quickly to survive safely’,” he stated. Pattaya City therefore partnered with Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, Bangkok Life Assurance Public Company Limited, and Bangkok Insurance Public Company Limited to organize the seminar. The objective is to educate the public on warning signs such as facial drooping, arm or leg weakness, and slurred speech, as well as risk factors related to lifestyle, diet, and underlying conditions like hypertension and diabetes.

The program also covered prevention strategies and rehabilitation methods to reduce the chance of recurrence and improve quality of life.
Mr. Wuthisak expressed hope that the expert insights shared by the speakers would empower attendees to apply the knowledge in caring for themselves and their loved ones, helping everyone overcome this silent threat sustainably.
