Pattaya, Thailand – The Pattaya City Administration, through its Office of Natural Resources and Environment, is calling on all residents and business owners to cooperate in reducing and stopping open burning in public areas. The appeal is to tackle the ongoing issue of haze and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) pollution while minimizing the risk of wildfires.
This seeks to ensure continuous public awareness and collective action. Its main goals are to improve air quality, lessen health impacts from pollution, and build teamwork across all sectors in caring for Pattaya’s environment, making the city a more livable and attractive destination for residents and visitors alike.
Open burning of waste, agricultural residue, grass, or other materials in open spaces is a major contributor to PM2.5 levels, which can affect respiratory health and overall well-being. By reducing such practices, Pattaya hopes to maintain cleaner air and enhance the city’s reputation as a pleasant everyday destination.

Residents who witness any instances of open burning are encouraged to report them immediately to the Pattaya Contact Center at 1337. The hotline operates around the clock and accepts reports in both Thai and English.
This campaign is part of broader national efforts to combat air pollution and shows Pattaya’s commitment to sustainable environmental management.
Pattaya residents and business operators are reminded that collective small actions, such as proper waste disposal and composting instead of burning, can make a big difference in protecting the city’s air quality for everyone.
