At 08:30 AM on April 4th, 2026, Police Lieutenant Thaksin Akraphong Saenputtawong, Deputy Investigator at Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of an unidentified foreign man found dead inside a rented room in the middle of Soi Peniat Chang 11.
Upon receiving the report, he informed his superiors and rushed to the scene with the investigation team, forensic officers from the Chonburi Provincial Police Forensic Division 2, and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation Pattaya.
The scene is a 4-story commercial building converted into daily/ monthly rental rooms. The body of the foreign man was found on the staircase between the 2nd and 3rd floors. He was identified as Mr. Jayden (Surname withheld awaiting embassy and family contact), 42 years old, from Portsmouth, UK. He was a former online life insurance salesman.
The body was in a sitting position, head bowed forward, leaning against the handrail. There was one open wound approximately 2 cm wide at the back of his head. Investigators and forensic police carefully collected evidence at the scene.
Inside Room 202 on the 3rd floor (the deceased’s room), there were no signs of struggle or theft. One bottle of Thai Sangsom liquor, one bottle of water, and one glass were found on the bed.
Ms. Panthiva Nambun, 39, from Ubon Ratchathani Province, the deceased’s girlfriend, was waiting to give a statement to the police. The missing right sneaker was later found by police in the hallway on the 3rd floor.
Ms. Panthiva tearfully stated that she had been living with her UK boyfriend. They had rented the room together since March 14th. After finishing work, she walked up to the room and found her boyfriend sitting on the stairs near the room. At first, she thought he was asleep, so she tried to wake him by shaking him for a long time, but he did not respond. She then called for help, only to discover that he had already passed away.
She added that her boyfriend had underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, and was a heavy daily drinker. He used to work as an online life insurance salesman and had resigned two weeks earlier to prepare to return to the UK for medical treatment. Recently, he had been drinking heavily; when drunk, he would often vomit blood and showed signs of confusion and memory loss before his death.
Police Lieutenant Thaksin Akraphong Saenputtawong, Deputy Investigator at Pattaya City Police Station, revealed that the exact cause of death cannot be determined yet. The body will be sent for a detailed autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police General Hospital.
CCTV footage from inside the room showed no abnormalities or unauthorized persons entering or exiting. The latest footage showed the deceased walking out of his room wearing only black shorts, appearing intoxicated. He went down to the staircase on the 1st floor around 2:00 AM, then returned towards his room. In the early morning before 8:00 AM, he was found dead sitting on the stairs between the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Around 6:00 AM, he sent a message to his girlfriend expressing sadness and disappointment about his child and his upcoming return to the UK. When his girlfriend finished work and returned to the room, she found his body in that condition.
Police will continue the investigation to determine the true cause of death.
