Pattaya Mayor Welcomes Rangsit University Graduate Students for Study Visit on Urban Leadership and Management

Pattaya, March 21st, 2026– Pattaya Mayor Poramese Ngampichet welcomed a group of 70 master’s and doctoral students from Rangsit University’s College of Leadership and Social Innovation (formerly College of Social Innovation) on March 21st, 2026, at the Thapphraya Meeting Room in Pattaya City Hall.

The delegation was led by Associate Professor Dr. Suriyasai Katasila, Dean of the College of Leadership and Social Innovation, and Assistant Professor Dr. Chanatnan Muangvichian, Director of the M.A.I. Leadership Program. The visit was part of the “Leadership and Reconciliation: Leaders in the VUCA World” project, encompassing the Master of Arts in Leadership for Social, Business, and Politics program and the Doctor of Philosophy in the same field.

During the morning session, Mayor Poramese delivered a special lecture titled “Good Urban Governance: The Pattaya Context.” He was joined by Dr. Pitiya Phirom-on, Assistant Secretary to the Pattaya Mayor, who also provided insights and assisted in hosting the group.

The college selected Pattaya for the study tour due to its recognition as a world-class tourism city with effective urban management practices. The visit was to provide students with practical exposure to leadership challenges and solutions in a dynamic, volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment.

In the afternoon, doctoral students attended a special lecture on “Leadership in the VUCA World: Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Special Development Zone Project” presented by representatives from the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee.

Master’s degree students conducted field studies on key tourism-related issues, including waste management in a tourist city, tourists’ perspectives on Pattaya, challenges related to sex workers in the service industry, and transportation systems, traffic, and pollution in Pattaya and surrounding areas.

Mayor Poramese assigned relevant city departments to coordinate and facilitate the ongoing activities to ensure a productive and insightful experience for the group.
