Pattaya, Chonburi – March 21st, 2026 – A devastating accident on Jomtien Second Road/Thrappraya Road claimed the life of a 55-year-old Finnish man late Friday night when a high-speed big bike collided with him as he crossed the street, leaving the foreign rider also seriously injured.
The accident occurred around 9:40 PM on March 20th, 2026, on Jomtien Second Road just before the Rompho Jomtien Market. Pattaya City Police received reports of a big motorcycle striking a pedestrian, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
Rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya, along with medical teams from Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, rushed to the scene. A large crowd of locals and tourists had gathered around the middle of the road where two foreign men lay injured.
The pedestrian was identified as a 55-year-old Finnish national. The Pattaya News has withheld his name pending embassy and family notification. He was found in critical condition with no pulse. Rescuers performed CPR to sustain his life and transported him urgently to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The motorcyclist, a foreign man estimated to be 30–40 years old, remained unidentified at the scene as no personal documents were found. He also suffered severe injuries and received immediate CPR before being rushed to Pattaya City Hospital for intensive care.
Approximately 300 meters from the impact point, officers located the heavily damaged green Kawasaki Z800 motorcycle (Chonburi license plate 4 กม 9806). The bike had flipped over, wheels pointing skyward, after skidding and colliding with a parked car on the roadside, causing additional vehicle damage.
An eyewitness, Mr. Winai Rungjaemjaeng, 71, told police he heard the motorcycle rider approaching at high speed with a continuous revving sound. Moments later, a loud crash echoed as the bike lost control, slid across the road, struck the parked vehicle, and threw the rider onto the pavement.
Another witness, a Finnish man speaking through an interpreter, identified the deceased as his friend. He stated that the victim had been crossing the road when the speeding big bike rider struck him directly with tremendous force, leading to the fatal outcome.
Police from Pattaya City Police Station documented the scene with photographs, plan to review nearby CCTV footage, and continue interviewing additional witnesses.
This was the second accident involving a big bike and a foreign rider within a few minutes tonight, both happening on Thrappraya Road and only a short distance from each other and raises concerns about speeding big bike riders in particular, which have also driven recurring noise complaints in the area.
