Pattaya, Thailand – March 5th, 2026

A late-night brawl in the heart of Pattaya’s famous Walking Street ended with two British tourists seriously injured and unconscious on the roadside after they reportedly ganged up on a heavily built foreign man, who witnesses said fought back in self-defense.

According to police from Mueang Pattaya Police Station, the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on March 5th in the middle of Walking Street in South Pattaya.

Pol Lt Col Jittisuk Suthinitatwong, deputy investigator at the station, received a report of a fight involving foreigners with injuries. Officers from the patrol unit, along with rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya, rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found a large crowd of tourists and onlookers gathered around two injured foreign men lying unconscious on the side of the road. One was identified only as Mr. Lutfi, 29, a British national, who suffered a dislocated hip, a split left eyebrow, and abrasions across his body. The second victim, another British man estimated to be 25-30 years old, had a head laceration, multiple abrasions, and was heavily intoxicated.

Rescue teams provided first aid before transporting both men to Pattaya International Hospital for further treatment.

The other person involved, a muscular foreign man whose nationality and name was withheld by police, approximately 30 years old with a tall, heavily built physique (wearing a sleeveless gray shirt), calmly remained at the scene and cooperated with police. He claimed that the two injured men, along with possibly one or two others, had attacked him first for basically no reason at a nearby bar, causing him to defend himself. Police took him to the station for questioning and to record his statement.

Local witnesses and residents described the chaos: The altercation reportedly began inside a nearby beer bar, where a group of foreigners, likely 2-3 on one side, chased and confronted the muscular man, who was accompanied by his Thai girlfriend. The larger group attempted to overwhelm him, but the bigger man proved too strong. During the scuffle, Mr. Lutfi reportedly lost balance, charged into a parked pickup truck on the roadside, and collapsed to the ground. Bystanders then intervened to stop the fight and alerted authorities.

Video footage captured by onlookers shows the two British men (and possibly a third) charging and punching at the taller, muscular individual, who appeared unfazed and countered effectively amid heavy foot traffic on the busy street.

As of the latest update, the injured parties had not yet filed a formal complaint due to their condition. The muscular man was questioned about his identity, residence, and involvement before being released pending further investigation. Police stated they will wait for the injured men to recover before summoning both sides for formal statements and proceeding according to legal procedures. They noted the muscular man was cooperative and did not appear to be intoxicated or the aggressor based on witness statements and early investigation.

Incidents of alcohol-fueled fights among tourists are not uncommon in Pattaya’s nightlife areas, particularly around Walking Street, where crowds and late-night drinking often lead to escalations. Authorities continue to monitor such hotspots to maintain public safety.
