Pattaya, Thailand – In the early hours of February 26th, 2026, a 36-year-old British man was arrested after allegedly causing a disturbance and snatching a mobile phone from a female cannabis shop vendor along Pattaya Beach.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when officers from the Pattaya Tourist Police, Pattaya Police Station, and local administrative officials responded to reports of a foreign national creating chaos on the beachside road on Pattaya Beach near a small cannabis shop.
Upon arrival, police found a heavily tattooed British man, approximately 36 years old (name not yet released by police), in an agitated state. He had removed his shirt, was wearing only black shorts, and was running around erratically while shouting incoherently to himself. Witnesses described his behavior as suggestive of intoxication or loss of mental control, causing alarm among tourists and locals in the area. Officers quickly subdued and detained him as he attempted to flee.

The victim, Ms. Wanida Chaiwan, 27, who operates a cannabis retail stall nearby, told police that she had briefly dated the suspect in the past before ending the relationship. Approximately two months earlier, he had reportedly come to her accommodation, attempted to break down the door, and smashed a window, causing damage before escaping.
On the night of the incident, the man returned to her shop. He reportedly grabbed her mobile phone and whispered a threat, warning her not to make noise. Ms. Wanida shouted for help, prompting nearby patrolling officers to intervene swiftly and apprehend the suspect.

Authorities initially charged the man with causing a public disturbance. He was taken into custody and transferred to investigators at Pattaya Police Station for further legal proceedings and drug and alcohol testing. The victim was in the process of filing additional complaints to pursue further charges under Thai law.
