Thai Navy Commander Strengthens Ties with South Korean Navy During Cobra Gold 2026 Reception Aboard ROKS Nojeokbong

Sattahip, Chonburi Province – On Saturday, February 21st, 2026, Rear Admiral Etam Yuwanangkool, Commander of the Air and Coastal Defence Command (ACDC) of the Royal Thai Navy, together with his wife Mrs. Arisara Yuwanangkool, attended a reception dinner hosted aboard the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) vessel ROKS Nojeokbong (LST-689).

The event took place at Chuk Samet Pier in Sattahip District as part of the South Korean Navy’s participation in the multinational Cobra Gold 2026 exercise. ROKS Nojeokbong, a Cheon Wang Bong-class tank landing ship, is among the assets deployed by South Korea for the drills, which run from late February to early March and involve amphibious operations, combined training, and regional security cooperation.

The reception provided an excellent opportunity to further strengthen the close and enduring relationship between the Royal Thai Navy and the Republic of Korea Navy. It also served to enhance bilateral military cooperation in areas such as maritime security, naval operations, and joint readiness to address shared regional threats.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly, showing the long-standing friendship and sustainable military partnership between Thailand and South Korea. 🇹🇭🤝🇰🇷

This engagement shows the importance of multinational exercises like Cobra Gold in promoting interoperability and mutual trust among participating nations in the Indo-Pacific region.
