Three People Including Chinese Tourist on Motorbike Taxi Injured in Major Traffic Accident in Pattaya on Sukhumvit Road

Pattaya-

A serious traffic accident occurred in the early hours of February 12th, 2026, at the Sukhumvit Road traffic light intersection in central Pattaya, resulting in three people injured.

Pattaya City Police received a report at approximately 2:10 a.m. of an electric motorcycle colliding with a sidecar motorcycle (commonly known as a “saleng”) at a red-light junction on Sukhumvit Road. Officers coordinated with volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya rescue foundation, who rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, rescuers found motorcycle debris scattered across the road, along with spilled engine oil. The sidecar motorcycle was heavily damaged, with its cargo thrown in all directions. Nearby lay the driver of the sidecar, identified later only as Mr. Sengiam, aged approximately 50-60 years old. He had sustained severe injuries, including a large laceration on his head with profuse bleeding. Emergency responders provided immediate first aid to control the bleeding.

Further into the intersection, two other injured individuals were located: a Chinese male passenger (name not yet known) who had been riding pillion on the electric motorcycle, and Mr. Natthaphon Huadon, 29, the driver of the electric motorcycle. The electric bike was extensively wrecked. Mr. Natthaphon suffered abrasions across his body and chest tightness, while the Chinese passenger had multiple abrasions and appeared dazed and confused. Rescue teams administered preliminary treatment before transporting all three victims to a nearby hospital.

According to Mr. Natthaphon’s initial statement to police, he works primarily as a boat driver but was providing ride-hailing taxi services that night. He had picked up the Chinese passenger from an entertainment venue in South Pattaya to drop him off at accommodation in central Pattaya. As he approached the intersection, his traffic light was green. Suddenly, the sidecar motorcycle reportedly ran the red light and cut directly in front of him at close range, leaving no time to brake. The electric motorcycle struck the sidecar head-on with significant force, causing the crash.

Police documented the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage from the intersection to determine the exact cause and confirm responsibilities. Legal proceedings will follow standard procedures based on the evidence gathered. Authorities reminded road users to strictly obey traffic signals to prevent such incidents.
