Pattaya, February 12th, 2026 – Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, Mr. Damrongkiat Phinitchakan, led an on-site inspection in the Na Kluea area to assess the progress and readiness of the auspicious “Teng Lang” lantern decorations in preparation for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.
Accompanied by members of the Pattaya City Council and heads of relevant government departments, the inspection focused on ensuring that the installations were proceeding smoothly and meeting the city’s standards for the festival.
Chinese New Year remains a significant tradition for Thai people of Chinese descent, embodying deep cultural values, filial piety, good fortune, and auspicious beginnings. It marks the start of the new year according to the lunar calendar, a time for family reunions, and the continuation of cherished customs passed down through generations.
Recognizing the festival’s importance both culturally and as a major tourism draw, Pattaya City has organized the “Pattaya Chinese New Year Festival 2026”. The event features red “Teng Lang” lanterns, illuminated check-in spots with colorful lights, and culturally themed sculptures designed to create a festive atmosphere. Decorations have been installed at three key locations:
– The entrance arch to Lan Pho Public Park in Na Kluea
– The entrance gate to Walking Street
– The multipurpose courtyard at Pattaya City Hall
The festive displays will be available for visitors to enjoy and photograph from February 10 to 24, 2026, offering memorable moments during the Chinese New Year season.
During the inspection, officials found that the lantern decorations in the Na Kluea area were largely complete, with only minor finishing details remaining at Lan Pho Public Park. This landmark site is expected to add significant joy for both residents and tourists.
Looking ahead, Deputy Mayor Damrongkiat proposed expanding the decorations in future years by increasing the number of Teng Lang lanterns and extending them to additional sois throughout the Na Kluea district. The goal is to enhance overall beauty and ensure a more widespread celebratory atmosphere across the area.
The Pattaya Chinese New Year Festival aims to blend cultural heritage with tourism promotion, inviting locals and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the spirit of prosperity and tradition.
