PATTAYA, Chonburi – A 57-year-old American man was found severely injured and covered in blood outside a condominium in Pattaya late on February 9th, 2026, after reportedly being assaulted earlier in the evening.
The incident was reported at 11:36 p.m. when the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Unit received a call about an injured person seeking assistance at the entrance of a condominium in Soi Bongkoch 8.
Upon arrival, rescuers found a large crowd of condominium residents gathered outside. The victim was identified as Mr. Matthew Blain Plymale, 57, an American national. He had suffered a deep laceration under his chin, with blood soaking his entire body and clothing. Witnesses described him as heavily intoxicated, appearing disoriented and confused.
When questioned, Mr. Plymale was unable to provide coherent details about what happened. He soon collapsed to the ground from exhaustion and weakness. Rescue volunteers administered first aid on-site before urgently transporting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Security guards at the condominium told responders they were unaware of who assaulted the man or where the attack occurred. They reported that Mr. Plymale had arrived at the front of the building in a highly intoxicated and paranoid state, attempting to confront or threaten others. Guards recorded video footage of his behavior as evidence before he collapsed onto the floor, prompting them to call for emergency assistance. It was unclear if the man stayed at the condo or was just attempting to seek assistance from staff for his injuries.
Rescue personnel further revealed that earlier the same evening, at around 9:06 p.m., they had responded to another incident involving the same individual approximately 500 meters away. At that time, he was already injured and agitated, shouting and causing a disturbance. Video evidence was also captured during that earlier call. He later made his way to the condominium where he sought help again.
The exact circumstances of the assault remain unclear, including the identity of any assailant(s) and the location of the initial attack. Police have not yet released further details on whether an investigation has been formally opened or if CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed. The severity of the man’s injuries and intoxication levels made initial investigation impossible, so police would wait until he was recovered.
