Huai Yai-
A female noodle vendor in the Huai Yai area of the Banglamung district narrowly escaped a terrifying armed robbery attempt on the evening of January 30th, 2026, after a muscular man on a motorcycle pulled a gun and ordered her to stop.
The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. while the 45-year-old vendor, referred to only as “Ms. A” (a pseudonym to protect her identity), was riding pillion on a motorcycle returning home from selling noodles. Her daughter, son-in-law, and young granddaughter were on the bike, having picked her up after work.
As they traveled along a secluded stretch of road, a sturdy-built man wearing a full-face helmet rode up closely on a black motorcycle. He allegedly drew a firearm, brandished it threateningly, and shouted for them to pull over.

Fearing for their lives, Ms. A immediately instructed her son-in-law to accelerate and flee. The family sped away, eventually reaching a spot where a truck was parked with people nearby. Seizing the opportunity amid the increased presence of witnesses, they veered into a nearby alley to escape. The suspect slowed down, observed the situation, and then rode off in the opposite direction along the deserted road.
Shaken by the ordeal, Ms. A and her family quickly proceeded to the Khao Mai Kaew police checkpoint to report the incident and request increased patrols. She expressed deep fear, noting that she regularly uses this route to return home after work and worries about her safety, as well as that of other local residents in the area.
Her 24-year-old daughter added that upon seeing and hearing the suspect draw the gun, she urged her husband (the son-in-law) to ride as fast as possible, terrified that the man might open fire. Fortunately, the family managed to escape without injury, though the experience left them deeply traumatized.

The vendor appealed to officers at Huai Yai Police Station to step up surveillance and crime prevention measures along the route to restore a greater sense of security for residents and daily commuters in the neighborhood.
No injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the attempted armed robbery. Police have not yet released details on any suspects or further developments in the case. Residents in the Huai Yai and surrounding areas are advised to remain vigilant, especially when traveling alone or at night on less-traveled roads.
