Unidentified Middle Aged Man Found Dead in Roadside Ditch Wearing Only Underwear in Huai Yai

Huai Yai Subdistrict, Banglamung

Police are investigating the mysterious death of an unidentified man whose body was discovered lying in a roadside drainage ditch, clad only in underwear, in a rural area near a temple in Huai Yai.

At around 12:30 p.m. on January 19th, 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Pracharak Suriya, Investigator at Huai Yai Police Station, received a report of a body found in a ditch along the Thung Klom–Huai Yai Road, close to Wat Phrom Phra Pha Nimit in Moo 5 in the Huai Yai Subdistrict.

After notifying superiors, the investigator rushed to the scene with a team of detectives, officers from the Region 2 Forensic Science Office (P.T.H.) in Chonburi, an on-duty doctor, and rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in Pattaya.

Upon arrival, authorities located the body in a drainage channel between a community road and a cassava plantation. The deceased was a man with dark skin of unknown nationality, estimated to be 40–45 years old. He was lying face up, wearing only dark blue underwear. No signs of assault or external injuries from violence were visible on the body, though there were bite marks consistent with animal scavenging on the left shoulder area. Preliminary examination indicated the man had been dead for approximately two days (around 48 hours).

Police interviewed nearby residents and witnesses in an effort to identify the victim, but no one in the area recognized him or had seen him before. The body carried no identification documents. The first person to discover the remains was the landowner of the cassava field, who drove to inspect his property, spotted the body in the ditch, and immediately called the police.

Pol. Lt. Col. Pracharak Suriya, along with forensic officers, carefully collected evidence at the scene. The body has been transported to the Institute of Forensic Science at the Police General Hospital for a full autopsy. Authorities are also working to establish the man’s identity and determine the true cause of death.

Investigations continue as police explore all possibilities, including natural causes, accident, or foul play, amid the puzzling circumstances of the discovery.

Updates are expected as forensic results and further inquiries progress.
