PATTAYA, Chonburi – January 11th, 2026 – A two-storey mixed concrete-and-wood home was completely destroyed by fire late Thursday night in the Nongprue sub-district, forcing an elderly couple to flee for their lives. Miraculously, no injuries were reported despite the rapid spread of the blaze.
The Pattaya City Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Unit received the emergency call at 10:06 p.m. on January 10th, reporting a house fire at 281/1 Moo 12 in the City of Pattaya. Firefighters, along with Pattaya City Disaster Prevention officers, Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue volunteers, Pattaya City Police, and local administrative officials, rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, witnesses described a chaotic scene as flames engulfed the entire two-storey residence, with thick black smoke billowing into the night sky. Concerned neighbours gathered outside, watching anxiously as the fire raged. Police quickly evacuated nearby residents while firefighters deployed water cannons to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent homes. It took more than 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, leaving only smouldering embers and heavy smoke in its wake.

An inspection of the interior revealed the house reduced to charred ruins and debris. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.
Mrs. Lamai Iamrai, 78, who lived in the home with her 78-year-old husband, who is bedridden, described the terrifying moments to authorities. While washing dishes, she heard a loud electrical popping sound coming from the wooden wall panel. Almost immediately, flames erupted and spread with alarming speed.

“I quickly helped my husband out of the house,” she said, her voice trembling. “We barely made it to safety and asked neighbours to call for help. All I could do was stand there and watch our home burn right in front of us.”
The couple managed to escape without injury, but lost everything in the fire.

Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyu, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, has ordered an immediate on-site investigation. Pol. Lt. Col. Anan Mahakij Asawakul, deputy investigator, led the initial inspection and coordinated with the Region 2 Forensic Science Office in Chonburi province. Officials plan to conduct a thorough examination of the site on Friday to determine the exact cause of the fire.
