Pattaya, Thailand– A 45-year-old motorcycle taxi driver was arrested on January 6th, 2025, after police linked him to a viral social media video showing bizarre and dangerous riding behavior believed to be caused by drug use.

Police Lieutenant Wutthiphong Kasa led the operation, apprehending Mr. Thatchathrit Junsamut near the Long Bridge in Naklua around 11:00 AM. Authorities seized approximately 0.44 grams of crystal methamphetamine (known locally as “ya ice”) as evidence.

A urine test confirmed the presence of illegal substances in his system, and Mr. Thatchathrit admitted to purchasing the drugs for personal use. He was taken into custody for further questioning and legal proceedings.

The arrest stemmed from a video that circulated widely on social media around December 30th, 2025. The clip, reportedly filmed secretly by a concerned resident, showed a man wearing a motorcycle taxi vest numbered 13 riding along Pattaya Third Road.

In the footage, the rider displayed highly erratic behavior: frantically waving his arms, wildly tossing his hair, and at times letting go of the handlebars with both hands while the motorcycle was in motion. The video sparked intense online criticism over public safety concerns.

Officers identified and located the suspect based on the distinctive vest and other details from the clip. They conducted a search, uncovering the drugs on his person.

Police believe the rider was under the influence of methamphetamine, causing hallucinations and impaired judgment. Fortunately, there were no passengers on the motorcycle during the incident, which could have led to serious injury or worse.
