Pattaya Launches Muay Thai Aerobic Dance Program to Boost Community Health and Preserve Cultural Heritage

Pattaya, Thailand – January 6th, 2025 – In an event at Pattaya City School 6 (Wat Thammasamakee Temple), Mr. Damrongkiat Pinijkarn, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, presided over the opening ceremony of the community health promotion project titled “Muay Thai Aerobic Dance.” The initiative, organized by the Wat Thammasamakee community and funded by the Pattaya City Health Security Fund, is to encourage physical exercise while preserving and promoting Thailand’s traditional Muay Thai martial art.

The ceremony was attended by Pattaya City executives, including deputy chief officials, alongside community leaders. The president of the Wat Thammasamakee community delivered a report outlining the project’s objectives: to develop regular exercise among residents and integrate Muay Thai movements into fun, accessible aerobic routines, thereby spreading appreciation for this national cultural heritage.

A large crowd of participants, including local residents, school students, youth, and elderly individuals, joined the lively activities. The highlight was an energetic aerobic dance session incorporating Muay Thai techniques, which brought joy, unity, and physical benefits to everyone involved.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Mayor Damrongkiat Pinijkarn discussed Pattaya City’s commitment to public health: “Pattaya recognizes the importance of promoting health at all levels, ensuring residents enjoy strong physical and mental well-being. By creatively adapting Muay Thai, a cherished part of our cultural heritage, into exercise programs, we want to enhance the quality of life and drive Pattaya toward becoming a sustainable city of wellness.”

The event was supported by help from Wat Thammasamakee Temple, relevant agencies, and local volunteers. The atmosphere was filled with smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm, reflecting the community’s strong spirit.
