As the extended New Year holidays draw to a close, Koh Loy Pier in Sri Racha is buzzing with activity as tourists begin returning in large numbers from Koh Si Chang, preparing to resume work on the fifth day of the new year.
Reporters visiting the Sri Racha-Koh Si Chang ferry pier today observed crowds of tourists steadily making their way back to the mainland. To ensure smooth operations, ferry operators have prepared additional boats for the return trips to accommodate the influx of passengers.
Authorities from the Marine Department Sri Racha Branch, Sri Racha Water Police, Sri Racha Municipality’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, and Sri Racha District Administration were on site, providing facilitation, safety oversight, and assistance to travelers.
The surge in returning visitors has also boosted income for local transport services, including taxis and shuttles, as many tourists had parked their vehicles in areas near Koh Loy Pier.
Some returning tourists took the opportunity to visit sacred sites on Koh Loy, paying respects and offering alms to monks at the island’s temple. Others prayed for blessings at the shrine of the White Jade Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) and the White Jade Guan Yu statues, seeking good fortune, encouragement, and prosperity for the new year ahead.
Traffic around the pier, both incoming and outgoing, was congested due to the steady flow of visitors. Officials estimate that the 2025-2026 New Year holiday period has injected tens of millions of baht into Chonburi’s economy through tourism spending on accommodations, food, and activities.
