Pattaya, Thailand – December 31st, 2025 – As thousands of Thai and international tourists flock to Pattaya for New Year countdown events, the Pattaya Tourist Police have stepped up safety measures, including the innovative use of drones for aerial surveillance, bringing smiles and reassurance to visitors.
Under the command of Police Lieutenant Colonel Prabda Suksunthorn, head of the Pattaya Tourist Police Station, officers along with Thai and foreign volunteer tourist police have been deployed to patrol key areas. Particular attention is focused on high-traffic spots such as the Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya, where crowds gather to board ferries to the popular Koh Larn island for countdown festivities.

Police Sub-Lieutenant Apichat Jarurak, from the Tourist Police Subdivision 4, Division 2, Bureau 1, operated unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to monitor the Bali Hai Pier area and the 3-kilometer stretch of beach road covering North, Central, and South Pattaya. The drones also crossed the sea to survey Koh Larn and assess maritime traffic safety.
Aerial footage revealed heavy congestion at the pier, with dense vehicle traffic and large numbers of tourists using ferry services to reach the island. In response, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sakda from the Pattaya Tourist Police Station mobilized officers and volunteers to manage crowds, facilitate smooth movement, and ensure safety. Tourists expressed appreciation for the visible presence of authorities, describing the care as “like family.”

During the drone patrols, no suspicious individuals, fights, accidents, or serious incidents were detected in the monitored areas.
The deployment of drones has proven effective in providing a clear overview of checkpoints and traffic routes, enabling continuous monitoring of tourist density and potential risks.

These enhanced measures aim to create a warm, secure environment for visitors welcoming 2026 in one of Thailand’s premier tourist destinations.
