Pattaya, Thailand – December 28th, 2025
A 29-year-old ride-hailing motorcycle driver was allegedly brutally assaulted by a group from a motorcycle taxi stand in front of Central Mall Pattaya, suffering a head injury that required stitches and bruises across his body.
The victim, Mr. Tosakorn Sirimaneechai, filed a police report at Pattaya City Police Station just after midnight on December 28, 2025. He told investigating officer Pol. Lt. Itthiphon Tangchuthawet that he had been called via the “Bolt” ride-hailing app to pick up a passenger near the taxi stand on Pattaya Second Road.
Aware of ongoing tensions, Mr. Tosakorn advised his passenger to walk a short distance away from the stand to avoid conflict, as traditional orange vested motorcycle taxis often prohibit app-based drivers from picking up fares in their territory. However, members of the group spotted him and quickly surrounded him, escalating into confrontation.
The assailants allegedly locked his neck, punched and kicked him, and kicked over his motorcycle. One attacker struck him on the head with a baton, causing a deep laceration. As he tried to flee, a cutter knife attached to his bike fell to the ground. When he bent to retrieve it, the group accused him of pulling a weapon first, dragged him back, and beat him a second time.
Mr. Tosakorn managed to escape and immediately reported the incident to police.
The victim has called on authorities to take decisive action, including prosecuting the suspects rigorously and implementing stricter controls on the stand to prevent further intimidation of the public and app-based service providers.
Police have accepted the complaint and are gathering evidence, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area, to identify and apprehend those responsible for legal proceedings.
