Pattaya, Thailand – December 26th, 2025 – A 24-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s new partner multiple times in a fit of jealousy at a local market in the Nong Prue subdistrict near Pattaya.
Police received a report of the stabbing at around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Jae Phong Market in Soi Chaiyapruek 2, Moo 12. Officers from Nong Prue Police Station, led by Deputy Inspector Lt. Col. Chanchai Sanguansakdisri, rushed to the scene along with rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya.

At the scene, in front of the fresh market and food stalls, rescuers found the victim, 30-year-old Parinya Kaewjumphon, lying unconscious in a pool of blood. He had sustained five serious stab wounds: one to the lip, three to the right side of his torso, and one to the left side of his chest. Emergency responders provided first aid before rushing him to Pattaya City Hospital in critical condition.
A 15-centimeter fruit-peeling knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered at the scene and seized as evidence.
The suspect, 24-year-old Surakan Chatmooltree, was detained by local residents shortly after the incident. He reportedly appeared remorseful and confessed to the attack, claiming it stemmed from jealousy. Surakan told police he believed the victim was secretly dating his girlfriend and that the couple had not officially broken up. He said he had grown suspicious after his girlfriend failed to return home for three days. On the day of the incident, he secretly followed her to the market where she worked and witnessed her with the victim, triggering a rage that led him to stab the man repeatedly with a knife he was carrying.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene: the victim was sitting and talking with the woman when the suspect suddenly charged in and began stabbing him relentlessly. The victim attempted to flee but collapsed in front of the market. The woman tried to intervene but was unable to stop the attack. Bystanders eventually subdued and held the suspect until police arrived.

The woman, identified only as “Green,” aged 25, spoke to reporters at the scene (declining to be photographed). She explained that Surakan was her ex-boyfriend, with whom she had been in a relationship for about six months before recently ending it. They had gone their separate ways, and she had only begun talking to the victim – described as a senior acquaintance – about a week ago. Green said Surakan had previously discovered her new connection, harassed her, and even physically assaulted the victim once before. On this occasion, he arrived on a motorcycle, saw them together, and attacked in a frenzied state.
Nongprue police have taken Surakan into custody for further questioning. Authorities are awaiting updates on the victim’s condition before formally charging him, with proceedings to follow under Thai law.
