A chaotic fistfight between two foreign tourists erupted in the middle of Pattaya’s Beach Road early on Christmas Day, sparked by nothing more than a slight shoulder brush, shocking onlookers and damaging the resort city’s family friendly tourist image.
The incident took place around 1:00 a.m. near the entrance to Soi 13/2 on Beach Road. A 44-second video clip captured by a local vendor quickly circulated online, showing the two men trading blows in a frenzied scuffle while crowds of Thai and foreign tourists watched.
Some bystanders attempted to intervene and separate the pair, while others cheered, creating an unsightly scene in one of Thailand’s premier tourist destinations. The fight eventually fizzled out, with both men walking away separately.
Reporters visiting the scene spoke with Ms. Parichat Chueanit, a 45-year-old street vendor who filmed the video. She told The Pattaya News that the area was packed with tourists strolling along the roadside at the time.
According to Ms. Parichat, the trouble began when the two foreigners accidentally bumped shoulders while passing each other. What started as a minor incident quickly escalated into heated arguments and verbal abuse. She and other locals tried to calm the situation and pull the men apart, fearing harm to others nearby.
However, neither party backed down, leading to the full-blown brawl. During the chaos, parked motorcycles belonging to a local was knocked over and damaged. No serious injuries were reported, and no police involvement was immediately mentioned at the scene.
